“I loved being there so close to the beach.”
And t the architecture , kitchen bench and cabinetry, particularly the colour contrasts was very pleasing. The spaces, the, flow through indoor and out, most pleasing. The outdoor rooms were pleasant for reading and breakfasting. It would have helped me to know how to operate garage door to open. I was on my own and I could have unpacked and wheeled in my gear that way instead of via The sleepers along the path way in and out to front door which are very uneven and rather difficult to wheel over ...

William “A wonderfully quirky kiwi beach bach!”

However, we found there was a general lack of information on key things like whether the water was drinkable or not. There was no signage and other than the one large bottle of water (which was insufficient for the stay) we were not made aware of any drinking water concerns. There was no hot water in the kitchen or laundry sinks so we were restricted to using the dishwasher only. The cleanliness of the house was also questionable with the kitchen floor found to be dirty and many of the kitchen drawers needing a wipe. Most of the curtains were also either falling down or unusable. A general tidy up outside needed. Otherwise a lovely big open space to relax in.

Very homely and comfortable. Plenty of room for the whole family to be in different spaces. All facilities and utensils made things easy. Loved the table tennis in the garage, pity we didn't get to use the kayak. Kids had heaps of fun finding all the skinks around the property. Thanks for sharing your home

The garden was overgrown, with broken bits of furniture and pots sitting on the back deck. There was what looked like a large cow pat/mud pat on the front balcony. There was no reference in the listing that you couldn't drink the tap water so we didn't come prepared with bottled water. The house appeared like it hadn't had a clean or a visit in a long time, with mouse poo in the kitchen and rats/mice in the ceiling at night. Confused as to why the house was listed for 3 times the price on airbnb, I would have been gutted to have paid that. The location of the house is however incredible with a flat kid-friendly beach and playground. I can imagine it was once a wonderful home but seems not to be cared for anymore which is a shame

So sorry we neglected to return that to nature! As to the house, agree that it has great potential and indeed we had a wonderful stay, but it could do with some tlc. Make sure all the light fittings work (kitchen/ dining/ living space felt a little dark), and yes I also had to sweep lower pantry shelves of mouse droppings. Some basic areas Bachcare let the owners down e.g. making sure the gas bottles are full (to their credit, bachcare rectified that first thing the next morning, it was lucky the bbq still had some gas to keep us going to finish that evening's dinner). Supplied 3 rolls of toilet paper per toilet which meant we had to buy more considering how many people we had on the booking. In contrast to plentiful supplies of cleaning/dishwash/dishwasher supplies it felt like an oversight/unnecessarily skimpy compared with the cost and the lovely linen and towels supplied (at extra cost). I think it would be a good idea to make the sign about tap water not being drinkable more obvious near the tap itself. We didn't even notice the faded sign on the fridge until the next morning, and think it would be good to have that info up front in the listing. The fridge wasn't working at all well which at suspected on our first night and confirmed in the morning with lukewarm food. Owners replaced it that day though, really appreciate them making the effort. Despite the quirks and issues, though, we had a great holiday. The ample supply of life jackets and wetsuits meant the kids could enjoy the kayak despite the cooler weather. The kids' toys were great, mobilo occupied ages 4-11! Plus the table tennis table was well used. The position of the house is wonderful, just so easy to stroll over to the beach and enjoy it. The beds were comfortable, the place was spacious and it is a solid base for a family holiday.

Elaine “It was a lovely house to stay in.”
We enjoyed the large open living area in particular and would have enjoyed the outside spaces if it hadnât been raining! Great proximity to the beach and playground. Our grandchildren really enjoyed playing with the toys. We were a bit unsure what to do with the rubbish as we werenât sure which bin was for general rubbish and which was for recyclable.

All rooms had drawers/shelves/racks to put your stuff, kitchen fully equipped and a spacious living area. Would definitely go back if I visit the area again and would be perfect for families with kids. Very happy with the stay.

It has good facilities and space and was a perfect set up for our family with two toddlers, plus grandparents. We appreciated the extras such as the children's toys and books. The location was ideal. However little to no basic supplies such as tea, coffee, cooking oil, or cleaning cloths.

The downside of our stay was the condition that the property was in on our arrival and the lack of response from Bachcare with regard to our concerns. I feel that the property owners have been let down by a poor effort from Bachcare staff.

Love the quiet road and playground for the kids, bach is well equipped. Would definitely stay again for these reasons. However the property needs maintenance - the gardens are overgrown, there is no clothesline, one of the outdoor chairs is broken, one of our party put her foot through rotten boards on the deck. Also issues with cleanliness (especially with oven and BBQ), the house could do with a deep clean. Other than those few issues we absolutely loved our stay and would stay again.

Perfect setting across the road from the beach and great playground. The outdoor BBQ area so useful on the windy days .House well equipped. Only suggestion would be to take some mozzie spray with you. Otherwise it was a lovely break away for all of us and an easy drive from Auckland.Steve was easy to communicate with and available when you needed him .We will be back .

The house location is opposite the beach, on a quiet road, and playground which the kids loved. The house is incredibly family friendly, with amenities for all age groups, including toddler toys through to use of the bike, kayak and inflatable boat. The kitchen is very well equipped with modern appliances/amenities and a good quality BBQ in a large open courtyard. Plenty of rooms and space for 2-3 families.

The fantastic indoor/outdoor living, plus family friendly nature of this Campbells Beach accommodation, make it an easy weekend escape! This Spanish inspired Campbells Beach holiday home is located just over an hours drive from Auckland City - an easy trip when you need to get away! The boardwalk style entrance adds to the beachy, warm atmosphere of the home, complete with walled in courtyard and outdoor living area. The outdoor living is easily accessible from the spacious kitchen, complete with a large servery window conveniently opening to the BBQ and dining area.
