“What a complete privilege to stay in this amazing property.”
Stunning location and fanstastic layout and design. So many options for sun and shade. The place has a fantastic energy about it, very special. Yes there are a few things that show the age of the house, but that just adds to the character. We loved it, highly recomend it and will be back again for sure. Thank you for allowing us to rent it!

Rory “Amazing spot and such a great house and well set up.”
However as others have mentioned it could do with a really good clean, all kitchen drawers and lots of dishes were dirty. Feels like no one has been there for a long time. Shutters need some urgent maintenance, and the gardens need a good tidy and weed.

Jason “We love the house, it's absolutely amazing!”
! There does seem to be some maintenance required and a few things missing. We had no cleaning cloths, next to none dish washing powder, the smoke alarms were beeping so need batteries, the main sliding door to the beach doesn't lock, one of the window motors is broken and making a noise, main hob element doesn't really work. Thanks so much. We love the house and will hopefully be back next year. Would also happily trade any electrical and plumbing work for accomodation if your interested.

Sarah “We have stayed in this house a few times before but it seems very neglected and in need of a good clean and TLC.”
There were no lights going in one bedroom, dirty pans and shelves in the kitchen and lots of small things that were missing or didn’t work.

Grace “The property is in a stunning location right on the beach but that does seem to be what you’re paying for.”
The lights in both the master and the second bedroom didn’t work at all and a lot of the doors were broken so really hard to open and close. The bedroom in the garage shouldn’t be classed as a bedroom as it’s cold and dark. Overall a nice spot but quite overpriced for the house itself.

There are plenty decks to sit outside and enjoy the beach view. There are repairs overdue to windows/ shutters( main bedroom shutters don’t open so dark) and some bedding updates needed for the calibre and cost of this accomodation. The third queen bed in the garage is in an awkward position to use. (Ok for teenagers maybe)

I couldn't think of a better beachfront position. The house is very well designed to maximise the view from multiple rooms and has plenty of outdoor areas to choose from to avoid any wind and maximise the sun. Lots of areas for outdoor games, the house has everything you need!!

It was not as clean as I expected , a lot of things were broken . Doors and windows were difficult to open or close which I considered a fire safety issue. The studio-converted garage is substandard accommodation and should not be offered to guests

The layout is fantastic, and with outdoor living areas on all sides means there is always a sheltered place to tuck out of any wintry weather. Sandy bay is such a treasure.

A 10-minute drive from Tutukaka or a 2 hour 25 minute drive from Auckland and you'll find yourself in the marine paradise that is Matapouri.
