“We absolutely loved our stay at Golden Paradise, the house was spacious and comfortable and the outdoor space was fantastic - we loved the covered deck area, expansive lawns and view of the sea.”

Being surrounded by bush gave a sense of seclusion and we enjoyed the peacefulness. I would highly recommend this house - it was perfect for our family of 6.

“The house is lovely in parts and unloved in others.”

Beds comfortable, en-suite bathroom very well appointed, plenty of linen and towels. It was clean where it needed to be (bathrooms, beds, kitchen) It is also quite dusty and cobwebby in the corners and needs a thorough going over. We all found it odd that the house came with absolutely no instructions for anything except the TV which we couldn’t work anyway as it kept just wanting to re-tune itself. There is no wi-fi and while that’s unusual and OK, in the main the phone signal is also very poor. We are not married to mobiles, but it was unexpected. There were no games that we could find, and no suggestions about where to go/eat/shop Everything is a fair drive away, although we did get in at the the Mussel Inn. If you are a Kiwi, then you would probably be more aware of a lot of the points here; coming from the U.K., while we had a very peaceful break in a beautiful setting, it was a learning experience.

“Lovely accommodation in peaceful location.”

Amanda, the lady managing the property, was very thoughtful and kindly brought us round some extra paper for the fire and some firelighters. It took us an embarrassingly long time to figure out how to operate the underfloor heating controls (each wall panel has a small vertical hinged cover door on the right side which opens out to reveal the control buttons; it took us a couple of hours before we twigged this!) Also, the shower drain in the ensuite bathroom did not drain adequately which meant the bathroom floor flooded pretty quickly when using the ensuite shower (probably just needs some Draino down it). Apart from those two issues, we had an awesome time and would highly recommend the property.

The location of Golden Paradise ensures you're close to all the scenic sights, with the vibrant Tākaka township a quick nine-minute drive away. If you want to indulge in the natural wonders Golden Bay is known for, take a 10-minute drive to Te Waikoropupū Springs, or make a day of it and take a 24-minute drive to Tata Beach or 33-minute drive to Wainui Falls. Providing a front row seat to the ocean, Golden Paradise awaits!

As the property is unfenced and near water, adults should closely supervise young children while outside to ensure they are safe around water.

Please note that there is a ladder staircase in the living area is not for guests use. It is essential that guests take personal responsibility for the safety of their group in this area and refrain from climbing the ladder.

Takaka is the main town within the Golden Bay area, with a strong community of friendly and arty locals.
