Looking for a getaway but not sure what your options are? We’ve handpicked a few holiday homes at varying distances from Auckland to help inspire you to hit the road.

1. Waiheke Island – Less than 1 hour!

Okay so you might still be in Auckland, but we promise it feels like you are a world away…

2. Raglan – 2 hour drive

Keen to get at least out of the Supercity? Just a 40-minute drive West of Hamilton, Raglan is a surfer’s paradise with a truly relaxed vibe, full of quirkiness and character.

3. Tairua – Approximately 2 hour drive

What Aucklander hasn’t dreamed about a Coromandel holiday this year? One spot we’ve been dreaming about is Tairua – the perfect spot for exploring the east coast and its offshore islands.

4. Lake Tarawera – 3 hour, 20 minute drive.

A 20 minute drive from Rotorua will take you to the stunning landscape of Lake Tarawera.

5. Hawkes Bay – Approximately 5 hour, 40 minute drive.

While it’s a bit further away – Hawkes Bay is well worth the drive. Not only does it boast gorgeous Art deco buildings in Napier – it’s also world-renowned for its wine and having the world’s largest mainland gannet colony!
