Tiny Homes NZ: Stay in a Tiny House

Back to Blog

Minimalistic living is a surging trend and one that opens the door to a simpler life. Though it might seem like a serious commitment as a lifestyle, it can make for a fun or romantic vacation adventure.

If a chance to relax and open your mind sounds delightful, it might be time to test out the simple life and stay in a tiny house. You can come and go as you please, giving you plenty of opportunities to explore the surrounding areas.

Plus, with an NZ tiny home, you can pack light with only the essentials and still have all the amenities you desire to cook, sleep, and unwind.

Te Anau Tiny House

You don’t have to be in love to appreciate respite and close quarters. However, this tiny home in this specific setting creates the perfect romantic getaway. It has everything a couple could need, including breathtaking views and plenty of privacy.

The contemporary space sleeps two comfortably and features a bathroom, plenty of sitting space, and a functional kitchen. Though it’s not a full-sized kitchen, there is a microwave, mini stove, and mini-refrigerator so that you can prepare a romantic meal and stay in for the duration. It’s heated and includes complimentary Wifi.

However, the real treasure is the setting. Walk out the doors to Lake Te Anau and the mountain backdrops. Enjoy a morning cup on the patio while watching the sun rise or settle in for a nightcap as the sun sets.

Things To Do Near This Tiny Home

If you decide to get out and explore the area, there’s plenty to do around Te Anau. Couples in the mood for romance and respite will appreciate the Glowworm Caves. It’s like traveling through space as you take a small boat through the caverns and gaze upon the shimmering glowworms. The waterfall, whirlpools, and rock formations are also spectacular to behold.

Or, perhaps a day trip to Milford Sound would be better. It offers some of the best scenery, including everything from grass-covered flatlands to glacial lakes and even a rainforest. Plus, you might catch a glimpse of local wildlife.

Should you desire a break from cooking, head to Redcliff Restaurant & Bar for a dinner you won’t forget. This contemporary restaurant features the ideal setting for date night, including live music, a varied menu, and loads of atmosphere.

Hector’s Tiny House

The theme for this tiny house should be the ambiance. While the house might be tiny and made for two, the surrounding area is larger than life. Hector’s Tiny House provides views of Robinson’s Bay with a rolling landscape and lush greenery sprawling in almost every other direction.

While this tiny home getaway makes the perfect romantic getaway, it is family-friendly with enough room for small families to reconnect. There is even a fenced yard with plenty of room to play and a washing machine so you can pack light.

Visitors have a dedicated living space, a small dining nook, kitchen, full bathroom, and a bedroom with a queen-size bed. Aside from using the kitchen, feel free to grill out on the BBQ to prepare any meal you desire.

Tip: Add a little romance and extra relaxation to any stay with a soak in the hot tub after a day of exploring!

What To Do Near This Tiny Home

Speaking of exploration, there’s a lot to do near Robinson’s Bay. It’s just a short, scenic drive to Akaroa in one direction and Duvauchelle in the other.

The Giant’s House is a must-see with one of the most spectacular and unique gardens in the world. Grab lunch at the cafe and then explore the acres of artwork and sculpture that create this interactive experience.

Another popular destination is Barry’s Bay Cheese Factory, the only remaining one on the Banks Peninsula. Try some samples and pick up some locally-made cheese to round out your dinner.

Adventure to Fiordland National Park where you can find Doubtful Sound. It’s less popular than Milford Sound because it’s more challenging to reach. However, the stunning views and path less traveled make it well worth your while.

Another exciting trip is the Kepler Track where you can cross the Waiua river to Rainbow Reach via a swing bridge. The bridge is one of several scenic spots just waiting for you to snap a few pictures.

Of course, you could always pick up a pie from Miles Better Pies. This popular hotspot serves some of the most delectable and unique creations, like a Taco Pie.
