3. Johnny’s Chocolate Eclair Shop Ohakune
Need a snack for the car or feel like treating yourself? Look no further! A trip to Ohakune would not be complete without sampling the world-famous-in-new-zealand chocolate eclair from this somewhat unassuming bakery. Allan Nation learned the craft from his late father – Johnny Nation. The bakery looks more like a convenience store, but inside you’ll find next-level baked goods! As well as making 30kg of chocolate icing for the eclairs each day, Allan also makes giant sausage rolls, pies, decadent cookies, rich slices, doughnuts and wild-berry turnovers. Say no more.

4. The Blind Finch – Ohakune

Short for Old Coach Road, OCR is a favourite among both locals and visitors. Located at the bottom of the Ohakune Mountain Road, it makes for the perfect stop for refreshments after hiking or cycling the stunning tracks in the area.
